B20 Soydiesel has more power than Diesel

National Biodiesel is pleased to advise that test results just in show that B20 soydiesel has more energy per litre.

There are two methods of establishing the Fuel Efficiency. Firstly by practical experience, and secondly by scientific analysis.

We are proud to advise about the overwhelming majority of our diverse customer base report increased fuel efficiency/lower consumption vs diesel during trials and throughout the years since transitioning to Soydiesel.

On the analysis side, click on the attached pdf below for the recent Certificates for the Net Calorific Value of Diesel, and the Net Calorific Value of Soydiesel B20 separately.

These show the Net Calorific Value as measured per kilogram of fuel.

As fuel is sold and delivered per LITRE the results must be converted and expressed as the Energy content per litre.

We have re-tabled these results below;

As you can see, Soydiesel B20 has a higher energy content per Litre than diesel, by a third of one per cent.

Add to this the reduction in friction from the lubricity found in Soydiesel, and the maintenance of clean injectors with no carbon build up, it is no wonder why the overwhelming experience is that of improved fuel efficiency when using Soydiesel B20.

More Soydiesel for Sita

In October 2009, SITA Environmental Solutions Wetherill Park Service Centre commenced using Soybiodiesel and has since consumed over 1,000,000 litres of Soydiesel B20.

National Biodiesel is now pleased to advise that it is now supplying the SITA Environmental Solutions Campbelltown Service Centre. A 26,500 litre Soydiesel tank was installed in January 2011 at the centre from which some 21 residential recycling and general waste collection operate.

According to the Campbelltown Branch manager Manager, Allan Chisholm, “The properties of the Soydiesel fuel blend provide natural lubricity, which is good for the truck engines …and great for the environment.”

“Our trucks will now produce fewer emissions and be more efficient.”

“The drivers are happy knowing that they are doing just a little bit more to help the environment, as their trucks are running on a fuel that is 20 percent Soydiesel,” said Mr Chisholm.

The Soydiesel fuel blend is 100 % supplied by National Biodiesel.

Robson and Xstrata reduce emissions with Soybiodiesel®

1 July 2010

Robson Civil Projects is a privately owned business that has been in operation for more than 50 years. In recent years Robson has emerged as one of the leading civil construction companies on the east coast of Australia, having developed partnerships with a number of major clients and engineering consultancy firms to deliver large, complex civil projects in the mining, rail and commercial sectors.

One of the multinational companies that Robson has partnered with is Swiss mining giant Xstrata, where at their Mangoola mine site near Muswellbrook they operate their fleet on B20 Soydiesel.

Robson switched to Soybiodiesel in 2008 and are now a major user and realising substantial greenhouse gas reductions. By May this year Robsons had consumed over 5 million litres of B20 which has abated over 2,700 tonnes of CO2. This is recognised by National Biodiesel with an emissions reduction certificate (pictured above) and plays an important part of the company’s environmental strategy. Prospective clients, whether they be government or companies, seek the contribution they are making to carbon reduction, a key aspect of tendering for contracts.

While carbon emission abatement is a high priority for some vehicle and plant operators, it is an absolute imperative for some companies such as Xstrata.  By using the B20 blend on site the total emissions from the mine can be reduced.   In turn this contributes to the wider carbon strategy of the company.

Minister highlights Australia's oil deficit blowout

  1 June 2010

The Federal Government dropped a rather startling statistic on the table during May 2010. Speaking to the Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association conference in Brisbane, the Minister for Energy, Martin Ferguson revealed that we now have a national trade deficit in crude oil, refined products and LPG of $16 billion a year, heading for $30 billion by 2015.

The cost of meeting our transport fuel thirst by mid-decade appears likely to blow out by $5 billion a year.

National Biodiesel has long since recognised that Australia is too dependent on foreign imports for its liquid energy supplies. National Biodiesel, through the development of a soybiodiesel refinery in Port Kembla NSW, will supply a locally sourced sustainable clean alternative fuel.

National Biodiesel is committed to “enhancing the food supply and fuel independence of Australia”.

NRMA highlights growing dependence on foreign oil

11 February 2010

The NRMA had advised that if action is not taken now, Australia will be almost entirely dependent on oil imported from some of the most volatile parts of the world for our transport and security needs within 10 years.

According to Fuelling Future Passenger Use In Australia, by the NRMA- commissioned Jamison group of scientists, Australia’s dependence on foreign oil will increase from 55 per cent to over 80 per cent in less than 10 years if the status quo remains.  Australia’s willingness to rely on overseas oil top fuel its economy could leave the nation with an oil trade deficit over $25 billion within just 5 years, negating any of the economic benefits the nation might gain from its minerals boom.  The report highlights the need for alternative sources of liquid fuels and recognises that biofuels (such as Soybiodiesel from National Biodiesel) will be one of the alternative sources of energy.

Marrickville Council takes the lead on B100

1 Sep 2009

Marrickville Council has be come the first in Australia to run its entire diesel fleet on 100% premium quality Soybiodiesel®. Supplied by local distributor The Biodiesel Station, Marrickville council has mandated the use of B100 in its diesel powered vehicles and equipment following successful trials which commenced in May this year.

Recognising both the environmental and performance benefits of using biodiesel exclusively in place of fossil diesel, Marrackville Council has taken an important step in ensuring the sustainability of its community and the quality of life for its people.

Mayor of Marrickville Sam Iskandar said “Council has also started using biodiesel across its fleet and is phasing out vehicles with an environmental rating of less than 10 as part of its futurefleet@marrickville program, which has led to a saving of 100 tonnes of CO2 emissions since 2004”.

http://www.marrickville.nsw.gov.au/environment.htm
This is an important step for not just the community of Marrickville, but for Australia as a whole.
We are becoming more aware of what needs to be done to create a more sustainable future
for subsequent generations, and the use of premium quality renewable fuels that do not compete
with food production, such as Soybiodiesel® is part of that future. As has been the case in the US
and Europe, more councils will follow the lead of the progressive and environmentally aware
Marrickville council.
"
National Biodiesel Chairman, Mr. Edward Dutton.

Premium quality Soybiodiesel® is available to the general public from The Biodiesel Station. Each litre of Soybiodiesel® used in place of fossil diesel will generate a 78% net reduction in CO 2 released into the atmosphere - truly helping to create a sustainable future.

National Biodiesel first to supply BQ-9000 to Australian Market

8 September 2008
For the first time Australians have access to BQ-9000 approved soy-based biodiesel. BQ-9000 greatly reduces any chance of producing or distributing inadequate fuel. To receive accreditation, companies must pass a rigorous review and inspection of their quality control processes by an independent auditor. This ensures that quality control is fully implemented, and gives the final user absolute confidence in the fuel used, a first in Australia.

"Australia has in the past been subject to biodiesels of inconsistent and often poor quality.
BQ-9000 users can now feel confident that the fuel they are going to use is of the highest quality and consistency"
National Biodiesel Quality Assurance Manager, Dr Jaco Vosloo

"Biodiesel users in the US and Europe have had access to high quality BQ-9000 certified fuel for a number of years. This has led to the widespread use, commercial success, and public acceptance of biodiesel, with consumers assured that the product they are using is produced and maintained at the Industry Standard "
Chairman, Mr Edward Dutton

The availability of this BQ-9000 certified fuel gives consumers the opportunity to benefit from the use of such a high quality consistent fuel prior to the commissioning of the National Biodiesel refinery in early 2010.
